Meadowvale Community Info

Meadowvale- Lisgar is a safe and diverse community of over 100,000 residents located in the North West corner of Mississauga. In the early 18th century, the Village of Meadowvale was founded by Irish immigrants from the United States. Due to its excellent location and proximity to the Credit River, milling was the main industry in the area. It's worth noting that the original Village of Meadowvale is located north of highway 401 in the area of Derry Rd W and Second Line, adjacent to the Meadowvale Conservation Area, whereas the majority of today's residents live south of highway 401 and further west along the Winston Churchill Blvd corridor.

Meadowvale From the Air In the late 1950's, highway 401 was constructed, which greatly affected the future of Meadowvale, putting it on the largest transportation corridor in Canada. In 1968, Meadowvale was amalgamated into the Town of Mississauga and in the 1970's, farmland west and south of the original town was developed into subdivisions that make up the present day area.
Meadowvale is home to the largest business park in Mississauga, which hosts the Canadian head offices of some of the world's fortune 500 companies; including Walmart and Microsoft. Over the past 10 years, Meadowvale has also attracted many multi-national pharmaceutical companies, which has diversified the economy and brought high paying jobs to the Mississauga region.
