Estate Homes

Trelawny Estates offers massive homes that are sure to impress. Throughout Lisgar, many homes are 4 bedroom, with centre hall plans and double car garage.
90's & 00's Amenities

Most homes in all of Lisgar offer Master Ensuites, Walk in Closets, Main Floor Laundry, etc.

More Than 10 Years Old (All Areas) Most Homes can benefit from basic cosmetic updating (carpets, countertops, etc)  which will increase the home's value
 Mostly Detached Unlike Meadowvale, Lisgar has high proportion of detached homes, with no apartment buildings or rental complexes, and very few townhomes or even semi-detached.
CON's
Small Lots Homes in all of Lisgar were built after 1980, and lots sizes, even for estate homes, are considerably smaller than in older areas of Mississauga.
Occasional Airplane Noise (Most Areas) Though not as regular as other areas, most areas do experience some aircraft noise; if you like being outside, this can be an occasional annoyance.

COMMUNITY "VIBE" & AMENITIES:

TRANSIT

Excellent for the commuter, you are very close to the new Lisgar Go Station, with easy access to downtown Toronto. Also with teh 401 and 407 at your doorstep, this is an ideal location for the commuter.
QUIET "COUNTRY"

Lisgar is on the outer edge of the city, and most traffic is local. You do not feel the hustle and bustle of being in the traffic jam of city centre, and near 9th line, there is still a country feeling about the area.

FAMILY ORIENTED

If most of your time is spent taking your kids to sports practice or music lessions, this area is great for you. Its highly suburban vibe may not be exciting or unique, but is designed with daily family life in mind.

CON's
UBER SUBURBAN This area does not boast a trendy downtown core or unique shops & markets. Lisgar is dominated by franchise restaurants and big box stores. If you are looking for nightlife or unique experiences, you will find yourself driving outside of Lisgar to find it.

AFFORDABILITY & OVERALL VALUE:

Affordability

For A Detached 3 or 4 bedroom home, you will pay less in Lisgar than in many other neighbourhoods in Mississauga, but more than in Meadowvale
Value

Easy commuter access by highway and GO Train, as well as modern floor plans and quiet living all offer good value for money.

Lisgar is NOT Ideal for:

1) If you need easy access to south Mississauga

2) You want an urban vibe with lots of unqiue shops and culture

3) You want a large private lot

Real Estate Market and Why It Is the Way it Is:

Built in the past 15 years, Lisgar is a newer area located at the most north west corner of Mississauga. Homes in this area are in high demand, especially among people who want a newer style home that is turn key and ready to move into. Homes range from town houses to large detached homes.

Typical Resident:                              

Lisgar has a very ethnically diverse population and a broad range of income types.

What I like best: If you are looking for a affordable (no pun intended) newer home Lisgar is the place for you. While not brand new, homes in Lisgar are not older than 15 years so you won’t deal with major issues that you may encounter in older neighbourhoods such as Meadowvale. While this is a plus, I will say that home in Lisgar can be run down because they are approaching the age where major maintenance needs to be done such as roofs, furnaces, windows and such. However, you can get much more bang for your buck compared to Churchill Meadows, where the homes are 5- 10 years younger.

What I like Least:

Lisgar has some of the most beautiful streets in all of Mississauga, however there are some streets that are approaching the mid life wear and tear crisis that affects all newer areas. This is the point where a new house is no longer new, and needs maintenance or it starts to run down. Owners of some properties (especially the lower end homes) have neglected this and it shows. The only other downfall I can see is that lot sizes are very cookie cutter so if you are someone who likes a big backyard you may have to look hard for it.

Transit and Amenities:

Lisgar is a great area to live if you work in the North West GTA and need access to highways 401, 403 & 407. It is NOT a good area to live if you need to commute to south Mississauga in normal rush hour as the traffic is very heavy along the major North-South Routes such as Erin Mills Parkway & Winston Churchill. In fact, I will argue that it is faster on some days to travel to Burlington on highway 407 (30k away) then to drive to Port Credit (10k) due to traffic.
