HOUSING CHARACTERISTICS:

PRO's

Variety of Homes

There is every type of home in this area, including traditional 2-storey, Funky 70's style, backsplits, raised ranch, semi's and townhomes. Whatever your preference, (except brand new) you will find it here.
Good Lots

The size of lot relative to the size of house is very good in this area, so if you prefer a larger, more secluded back yard, you can find it in Council Ring.

CON's

Cosmetic & Systems Upgrades

Due to their age, many of these homes will need some type of upgrade, be it new furnace, roof or windows. As well, most can benefit from some cosmetic upgrades as these homes were built over 20 years ago. So if you are looking for a brand new feel, this is probably not the best area for you.

High Proportion of Rentals

The older style homes around Windjammer were designed with separate entrances to the basement, which created opportunity for duplexing and rentals. Also close to South Common, there is a high level of rental townhomes. You will see things like multiple cars crammed into driveways, less attractive curb appeal, and other miscellaneous effects of rental units.

QUALITY & RANKING OF SCHOOLS:

PRO's

Public & Catholic

The schools in both boards are good, neither a top ranked school, nor poorly ranked either. Both Erindale and Loyola offer good education opportunities.

Extended French

If you enroll your child into extended French Immersion (grade 7), s/he will attend Lorne Park Secondary School, an extremely good school and program

CON's
All Areas None, unless ensuring your children attend a top ranked school is your number 1 priority.
Early French If you enroll your child into early French Immersion (grade 1), s/he will attend Clarkson Secondary School, which is not a highly regarded school.

COMMUNITY "VIBE" & AMENITIES:

PRO's

Amenties

This area has close access to great amenties including the Power Centres and Town Centre on Eglinton Ave, as well as the shopping complexes along Dundas.

Transit

Council Ring has excellent access to all areas of Mississauga, as well as great commuter access to 403, QEW and links to 407, 401, etc.

Parks & Greenspace

Plenty of parks and greenspaces were planned into the community when it was built, and most streets have access to walking trails that connect the parks together.

CON's
Lack of Prestige

This area was designed for the working class family and is dominated by simple and functional housing. There are only a few streets in the north west end where there was a consideration for elegant design and curb appeal. Most homes are very well kept, but the vibe in the area is not one of grandeur or prestige.

AFFORDABILITY & OVERALL VALUE:

Affordability

This area is highly affordable for families looking for good size homes. Due to the large number of duplexes and townhomes, it keeps prices well within the means of the middle class family buyer.
Value

The value for the family buyer is good, as prices are lower compared to the rest of Mississauga, and you still have access to great transit, parks, amenities and schools.

Council Ring is NOT Ideal for:

1) Buyers who want a prestigious & elegant neighbourhood

2) Buyers looking for top schools as their number 1 priority
